Salary vs. Commission

by Tami
(Seattle,WA)

My employer wants to switch from Commission to Salary. What should I expect to be a fair hourly wage? Currently I get paid $33.45 per hour massage and obviously nothing when I have nothing. To switch seems tricky to me in evaluating what I should expect/negotiate. Any thoughts?

Answer:
Figure out what you want to make per hour to meet your needs- to pay your bills etc and not feel resentful about working there. I would also have them create rewards for when you get repeat business and get new clients in yourself or from a referral from a client of yours.

Massage Envy's pay $15 an hour and they charge I think it is $49 per massage or something like that so I would ask for more accordingly. How much do they charge for a massage?

Also ask for sick days, vacation days, profit sharing, bonuses, etc.

Don't be afraid to walk away if they take advantage of you.
