Massage Therapy Jobs
Massage Therapy Jobs? Where exactly are all those jobs that your massage school promised that you would find? They are out there but these days massage employers have plenty of massage therapists to choose from especially in this economy, but you have to know what you are doing and what you want. Jobs are fairly a new phenomenon in the massage profession. When I first became a massage therapist in 1987 there were no jobs really. There were a few independent contractor positions but no real jobs. Today with all of the growth and increase in demand for massage therapists there are more jobs available. Yet still many find it difficult to find a good job in massage or any job at all in the massage profession. Some of the places where you can now find a job are in: - Massage Franchises like Massage Envy and Elements
- Spas- day spas, destination spas, resorts
- Hotels
- Health clubs
- Medical doctors office's
- Hospitals
- Cruise Ships
But most jobs out there are taking advantage of massage therapists. Some of the other problems with massage therapy jobs are: - Working long hours without breaks
- Not being paid enough to make a living.
- Not being paid when you don't have a client or being paid minimum wage.
- Your income will depend on the success of the employers ability to get you clients.
- Confusion over subcontractors and employee positions.
- No help from massage schools in training you how to get or find a job.
