Massage Therapist, LMT, NCTMB

by ktd
(Wilmington, Delaware USA)

I do massage in a pain center in Delaware. I consider the work I do as medical massage. I work on trauma patients under the direction of a chiropractor. I perform all my services with the intent of 'improving my patient's condition.' When my patients tell me that they sleep better after the massage, I know my work is providing pain relief.

Although I do deep tissue & deep pressure techniques on most of my patients, I also do light pressure, friction strokes or long broad strokes on other patients with favorable results. So, I am in support that medical massage must include ALL types of massage. For me, medical massage is most commonly requested by people who are in pain... regardless of the source of that pain (trauma or stress) & regardless of the technique applied to treat the pain.
