The author took six months and traveled around the US and interviewed massage therapists and massage schools to see what made a massage therapist successful. What she found was very interesting in that it wasn't any specific marketing or advertising method. What made for a successful massage therapist actually was their commitment to being successful, their level of professionalism. She found that massage therapists could have a very large advertising budget and still not be successful. Others with no money could start a massage business on almost nothing and only had a home made business card and they were very successful. Was it the large budget or the business card?
