Massage Ethics Classes

Massage Ethics Classes are required for renewing your certification through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and also in some state renewal requirements. While studying ethics is usually not the thing that most massage therapists want to do it is one of the most important pieces of becoming a successful massage therapist.

You can now take massage ethics classes at home and get credit for them. Here is a list of some of the popular online classes:

The 2-Hour Ethics Course: Professional Roles and Boundaries This is a short, concise review of the main legal and ethical concepts related to professional roles and boundaries in massage and bodywork today. This course meets the NCBTMB requirements for 2 hours in Standard V: Roles and Boundaries.

The 6-Hour Ethics Course: Ethics from the Dalai Lama 6 Hours in Ethics including 2 Hours in NCBTMB Standard V, Roles and Boundaries. Based on the book Ethics for the New Millennium (2001) by HH Dalai Lama. This is a really different look at how compassion is needed in order to be an effective massage therapist.

Ethics in Practice 6 CE hours in ethics: 2 hours in NCBTMB Standard V Roles and Boundaries and 4 hours in NCBTMB Standard I Professionalism. Based on the book- Ethics in Practice: A Handbook for Modern Massage Therapists (2008) by Lee Picciuto

This course meets all the NCBTMB Ethics requirements. Learn a universal ethical framework that addresses massage therapy-specific ethics and real-life business advice. This course is loaded with examples from massage therapists who share their diverse experiences with you. The AMTA Code of Ethics Guidelines are the backbone for the ethics portion. The business portion includes examples of ethical business practice situations and their resolutions, and honest advice about the realities of a massage therapy career.
