Massage Envy Franchises

Massage Envy franchises and other massage franchises such as Touch of Elements, La Vida Massage, Hand and Stone and Zen Massage Center to name a few are creating a new future for the massage profession. The way they work for the most part is that the offer a low cost membership of something like $50 a month and the person receives one massage a month.

The problem with that is to offer such low cost massages, they also have to pay their massage therapists low wages. We don't know for sure how this will affect the future of the massage profession. For many years a career in massage mainly meant opening up your own business. Now with more jobs available that may be changing. ME is definitely part of changing that.

When massage therapists who are in business for themselves first hear of these massage franchises they usually react with fear and worry that these low cost massages will affect their own business. There hasn't been much proof of that yet as far as I can see.

On the other hand these franchises are promoting massage more aggressively and getting the word out about massage. They are also providing a good opportunity for massage therapists to learn the business and have a steady job. People are also entering massage school at an earlier age and Massage Envy Jobs are good for entry level positions for people to get experience and have an income right out of school.

Each Massage Envy is actually run differently. I have heard that the pay rate in NY City is higher than most other areas and well should be. You can make more if you get tips from clients and if you work there your work and communications should include educating people about your work environment and giving a massage that is also worth a good tip. Some provide continuing education and other benefits.

I personally would love to see a franchise that offers more realistically priced massages and pays the massage therapist more.
