Massage Blogs
Massage blogs can be used instead of a website or in other words just create a blog using WordPress for your regular massage website. People seem to think that blogging is just about writing blog posts or articles, but blogging systems have progressed so much that they are actually much better than most websites. Using WordPress is the next best thing to Site Build it! mainly because of how you can optimize a WordPress blog and it is easy to use. Search engines love blogs and you can set one up easily these days with the latest advances in software. Blogs are just software systems and you can use them however you want to really so having a blog for your website is OK and even advisable especially if you are into doing it yourself and saving money. My blogging software of choice is Wordpress. What I like about Wordpress is that is it fairly easy to use. It is free to use except you have to pay for hosting. They do have a free version at www.wordpress.com that you can use and purchase an additional domain name but you can't customize it as much. You can easily set up your own blog and get it going in a few days on your own server. I became somewhat of a Wordpress follower after trying out a few different blogging systems. The biggest thing was that the help section was easy to use and very complete. It is now easier than ever to set up the Wordpress Software. All you need to do is get a webhost that has Wordpress as a featured installation. You can set it up easily with a few clicks. There are also a few things you need to do to get the settings right so that it works to attract search engines. I have most of it outlined in this Free Report on (pdf)Massage Wordpress Blogs I also recommend getting a more professional theme done like one of these from Studio Press. The main reason I like these is because you can set the sections that you want clients to look at the most and have them remain featured on your main page. A Wordpress blog is also a good way to create additional income for yourself by writing about other topics that you know and love. For more info on how to do that see my other site - www.guidetomakingwebsites.com where I explain the whole process. - Do some keyword research to find the best domain for your Wordpress blog/membership site.
- Order a basic web server package from the webhost that I use and recommend - www.ez-webhosting.com The reason I use them is that they do daily backups of your website which most other hosts do not do!
- Install your Wordpress Blog and set up the plugins that I recommend. Here is a short report on how to do that.
- Use the Pages feature to create your main pages like the about me page, your massage services page, your contact and location page.
- Use the Post feature to create articles on your blog. Create a page about every type of massage that you do. Write and article on the conditions that you work with like fibromyalgia, back pain, headaches and other things that you specialize in or see frequently.
- Learn how to use keywords in your blog and optimize the site, pages and posts for the search engines. This is just basic search engine optimization (SEO)
The downside of using WordPress is that you have to keep writing articles to keep the content fresh and also the navigation system is really not adequate. The best navigation system will direct people to specific pages or posts. You can do that with WordPress to a certain extent when you use the custom menu section but even then it is not as well organized. Here is more information that will help you decide whether or not you want to create a massage blog or build a website.
