Indian Head Massage aka Indian Champissage™
Indian Head Massage is also known as Indian Champissage™ and was
created by Narendra Mehta, an osteopath and massage therapist and a native from India who found that he was missing the regular head massage of his country. The concept of head massage is nothing new and was originally developed by women of India who used different oils (coconut, sesame, almond, olive oil, herbal oils, buttermilk, mustard oil and henna) to keep their long hair strong, lustrous and in beautiful condition. Barbers also did a form of head massage to stimulate circulation and was not considered to be a part of the beauty regimen as the women did. Narendra Mehta added the elements of ayurvedic medicine of India to rebalance the systems of the body and added massage to the face, neck, upper arms and shoulders for added stress relief.
'Champi’ means ‘massage of the head which was traditionally the massage done in the barber shops but is now modernized and being made popular by Narendra Mehta
