Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage is a popular type of massage with ancient roots. It was used historically by native tribes in the US and in Hawaii extensively but it was revived by the creation of LaStone therapy by Mary Nelson in 1993.
When I first heard about using hot stones for a massage my friends and I laughed for a long time. What is next? Spaghetti massage? Hot chocolate massage? Yes probably.
But Hot Stone Massage has survived the fad phase and is now an important part of healing sessions in spas and massage offices around the world.
You can just learn how to use hot stones in a massage session on your own but getting more through training is also helpful. There is a lot to know about using the right temperatures and placement of the rocks. Mary Nelson the originator of hot stone massage now uses frozen rocks too.
