Getting Massage Clients

Getting massage clients is a constant struggle for most massage therapists. Massage therapists are specialists in doing massage. Just thinking that getting massage clients is about giving a good massage often limits your success as a massage therapist.

There are many things that you can do to help you get a steady flow of new massage clients. I have many ideas on my website in the marketing section. There are many books on marketing and business. There are many online programs for massage therapists to help them with marketing massage and getting massage clients. So why then are so many massage therapists still struggling?

Many are not willing to invest in these products or books. It is so much easier to just say that the reason you don't have massage clients is because the economy is so bad or that there are too many massage therapists in your area. Blaming your lack of success on things that are outside of your control is easy to do. It is also one of the best ways to start discovering what your beliefs about success are and get to the bottom of what is holding you back from achieving success.

The simplest way to get massage clients is to just start asking your friends, families, neighbors - everyone you know to come in and get a massage. You can offer them friends and family discounts or even work on them once for free. Educate them as to what massage can really do. Tell them that it is no longer a luxury and that it is becoming a regular part of health care.

One of the things I would always tell people was how often my regulars get massage which is one to two times a week. People get inspired by that and even start to get jealous about that and then start making it a goal to save and plan financially to be able to do that.

How you talk about what you do takes practice and courage. Start talking about it with everyone you meet. Start talking about it from a different angle of what it can do for each person. That involves asking questions of each person. Like the story I tell of a potential client when I used to have my office in a health club. This guy was a serious runner and would always say things like he wanted to make an appointment but he never did. One day I just started telling him that I have other clients who run and how much it improved their running times. He signed up right then and there. He just didn't know what massage could do.

How badly do you want massage clients? What are you willing to do to get them and make it happen for yourself? What beliefs do you have about yourself that are holding you back from success? It isn't the economy or even your marketing that makes or breaks your success. It is your beliefs about yourself and success. When your beliefs about success are in alignment with what you are doing- it will start getting very easy to get massage clients. Personally, I don't do much marketing. I do have my website and that is about it. I never did any marketing except for talking about myself. I also now just have to refocus my thoughts when my business gets slow or I need more massage clients. I just think about printing more business cards or sending out promotions for gift certificates and the phone starts ringing. I just think about clients I haven't seen in a awhile and the phone starts ringing. Am I the only one who has it work that way?

Do you have a good story or example of getting massage clients to share?
