If you are thinking of starting a career in Holistic Healing and Therapeutic Massage then East-West School of Integrative Healing Arts is the right place for you. At East-West school we focus on integrated mind, body, and spirit from both our western and eastern roots into a holistic approach. This approach helps students be prepared for the demands of the industry and the clients that they will work with, but it also allows the students to take this time to learn more about themselves. Many of the classes we offer consist of techniques that many of our students have not utilized before, and so can expand their approach to various challenges and to themselves.

Our award-winning directors have created a flexible and exciting program at East-West School that makes it easy for you to continue your commitment to your job or home life while going to school. We have day and evening programs available and they vary from six months to 18 months in duration depending on whether you are in the part time or full time programs.

During your stay with us, you can design parts of your own program with our various elective classes that are offered throughout the year. These classes range from Herbology and Reiki to Medical and Sports Massage. Many of our instructors have 10-20 years of experience and our electives are taught by experienced and knowledgeable guest instructors from all over the country. We are the only school in the area that provides a 1000 hour program, which is the maximum amount currently required in any state for licensure. As of 2011, Iowa requires 500 hours of education and completion of a licensure examination at the end of your studies.

In addition to the classes we offer, we provide many opportunities to learn hands-on both in the classroom and on clients from the community. During your training with us, you will perform many massages for clients. These massages are always supervised by a qualified instructor that will help you through the process of working with each individual client’s needs. You even get to keep the tips! Upon your completion of the program, our directors and staff are very enthusiastic about helping our students with job placement. We offer Advanced Business Coaching and Interior Design advice for free as well as a lifetime job placement program—meaning we will gladly help you at any time in your career. East-West School also has a sister company, A Massage Oasis, LLC, that offers table and chair massage at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation & Wellness Center in downtown Iowa City.
