CCMT has been dedicated exclusively to providing massage therapy training since 1980. CCMT has three campuses. The main campus is located in Newington and there is a branch in Westport and one in Groton. All three locations offer a part-time massage therapy program. In addition, Newington offers a full-time massage therapy program, Westport offers a clinical massage therapy program and Groton offers a spa massage therapy program. All campuses offer varied and flexible schedule options and financial aid is available to those who qualify.
We are devoted to providing quality educational programs, and have uncompromising standards when it comes to our curriculum, the faculty we hire, and the services we provide to our students, graduates and members of the greater massage therapy community. CCMT is accredited by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a specialized accrediting agency for massage therapy and bodywork programs and institutions.
CCMT's comprehensive curriculum integrates technique, science and business with extensive hands-on practice. Our courses are academically challenging and professionally up-to-date with customized training manuals. CCMT provides students with many opportunities to gain hands-on experience. All students participate in student clinics, where they provide massage to members of the public in a supervised, clinical setting. Students in selected programs and campus locations can also participate in clinical education experiences in association with Hartford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, William W. Backus Hospital and The Spa at Norwich Inn. Selected CCMT courses have been assessed and approved for up to 40 college credits at Charter Oak State College.
Supportive guidance and resources are given with care throughout each student's journey. All campuses have fully-stocked libraries with books, professional journals and magazines, audio cassettes and computers with educational DVDs. Tutors, mentors, teaching assistants and study skills workshops are available; thorough preparation for professional practice and licensure is provided. In 2007, 94.7% of CCMT graduates passed the National Certification Exam for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) on the first take compared to the national average of 68.5%. We provide lifetime career resources for graduates including placement assistance, online massage therapist listings, job postings and business consultations.
We encourage massage school candidates to come in to CCMT for our complimentary Discovery Workshop where they will give and receive massage, experience our unique classroom settings and learn about our holistic training philosophy.
