Bamboo Massage Therapy

Find Classes on Bamboo Massage

Bamboo Massage Therapy is one of the latest types of massage to be developed. It is a technique that incorporates bamboo stalks of varying lengths and diameters to provide deep-tissue work. Bamboo’s outer walls are covered with silica, the same element that creates quartz crystal which supposedly allows it to have some of the same properties. The two main properties of quartz are piezo- and pyro-electricity. As the massage with the bamboo sticks is done, pressure is applied to the body friction that is created will supposedly activate the molecular structure in the silica. Using the bamboo sticks or cho sticks as they are called can also help reduce the wear and tear on the massage therapist's body.

There are a few different types of massage that incorporate the use of bamboo into the session - Bamboo Fusion Massage, Tian Di Bamboo massage, and Bamboosage. Natalie Cecilia is the creator of Bamboo Fusion Massage(TM).

Tian Di in Chinese means "heaven and earth. Tian Di bamboo massage is divided in three major segments: massage with bamboo, cupping, and Gua Sha techniques. It was developed by Ernesto Ortiz, LMT, CST, who studied at the Upledger Institute and now offers workshops worldwide. Ortiz incorporates principles from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), specifically the Chinese five elements theory, in which the principles associated with wood, fire, earth, metal, and water are applied to the massage technique. You can visit his website for more information on Tian Di bamboo massage.

Bamboosagge (TM) was created by Michelle D. Mace-Lambert. She offers homestudy classes through her website at www.my2feet.com

Bamboo is a plant with a very diverse history.
